Meetings
Society meetings are held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church
at 1441 Arlington Street, Houston, TX on Sunday on January, February, April,
September, October, and November. In August and May the club has
social meetings at times and dates to be announced. There is
usually an HCS auction conducted in March. The dates and times for all meetings are published in the newsletter
and on the home page of this website.
Socializing begins at
2:00 PM and the business meeting begins at
2:30 PM.

Directions to the Immanuel Lutheran Church
Programs
Programs cover a wide range of topics including shell classification,
marine ecology, research projects, field trip reports and shell-related
arts and crafts. These programs are presented by invited guests and
members of the Society.
Auction
An annual auction is held in March. Funds derived support an
education grant
to students working in
malacology, donations to the Malacology Department of the Houston Museum
of Natural Science, and the publication of The Epitonium.
Activities
Society members are involved in presenting programs to organizations,
local schools, and other shell clubs. Members exhibit shell displays at
libraries, shopping malls, and other public venues. Several members
enjoy participating in competitive shell shows resulting in many prizes,
including some national awards.

Field Trips
The Society sponsors field trips each year. One-day and weekend
trips have been taken to Galveston, Port Aransas, Florida and Padre
Island. Longer trips have been made to Cozumel, Belize, Baja, Costa
Rica and the Bahamas. Unofficial field trips sometimes occur when
members host social gatherings. Visitors are welcome to attend the
meetings and the field trips.
Publications
Members receive The Epitonium, the Society's official newsletter.
The Texas Conchologist is a widely recognized malacological
publication first published in September, 1964. The Texas
Conchologist ceased publication in December, 2004.
